The BBB is a private organization that attempts to mediate disagreements between businesses and consumers. They can be a good resource to measure a moving company’s reputation. The BBB can be contacted to find out how many complaints have been filed regarding the company, and how those complaints have been responded to. Then, compare the number of complaints with the number of moves performed per year. For example, a mover that does 5,000 moves a year is bound to have more complaints than a mover that does 500. The mark of a good company is company who responds quickly to any complaint or problem.
All movers, which are licensed with the California Public Utilities Commission, and the Department of Transportation, are issued numbers. These numbers must be on all estimates, advertisements, vehicles, and bills of lading. If a mover does not have these numbers then he has not satisfied the two agencies with insurance requirements and compliance to the rules set forth.
A low price is no bargain if your treasured possessions are not insured. Licensed movers are required to provide limited liability coverage at no additional cost. You can usually purchase additional coverage for an extra premium.
All licensed movers are required to have workman's compensation insurance for their movers. Your Isaac's representative will determine the appropriate number of men based on the circumstances of the move. Intra-state Moves-are charged by the amount of cubic feet you're shipping and the miles your belongings will travel on a California highway. The Public Utilities Commission of California supplies these rates, to Isaac's Relocation. Inter-state Moves-are charged by the amount of cubic feet you are shipping and the miles your belongings will be traveling between the two Zip codes (the origin zip code and the destination zip code). These rates are supplied to us by the Department of Transportation. ??? 2 Men for Local Moves With our years of experience we have found, most moves can be done in less time and cost the customers less if we send three men instead of two. As you look for quotes you will find that most companies will quote two, only because the initial price looks better, but it will take more time to complete the move two men.
Travel time is calculated by the time it takes to drive from the first location to the second multiplied times 2. The Public Utilities Commission of California rules that all movers within the state shall double the first drive. Example is, it takes 15 minute to drive to the second location you will then be charged for 30 minutes at the end of the move. This travel time is part of the cost of the move.
